Congratulations to CCGBC Green Awards Winners!

The Central Coast Green Building Council (formerly C4) has announced its Green Awards recipients for 2015.  At the annual gala in Santa Barbara on December 4th, winners in seven categories were honored for work including a Santa Barbara County office building retrofit, an innovative upcycled greenhouse, an electric car-friendly transit center, and the first LEED certified winery in Santa Barbara County.

Water efficiency was a prominent feature for several projects that used old and new technologies alike:  efficient indoor fixtures, pervious pavers, and graywater recycling for landscape irrigation.  In one innovative project, a national hotel chain incorporated an ozone washing machine, which uses ozone gas to boost the efficacy of cold water washing, thus reducing hot water and chemical usage.  Overall water demand was reduced by 16%!
