The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) recently convened its third annual Net Positive Energy + Water Conference. Hosted this year in San Diego, the event included presentations on cutting edge technologies for energy and water savings, offered case studies from certified and ongoing Net Positive projects, and addressed policy challenges for implementation.
Some of our favorite takeaways:
· A solar-powered desalination system for small-scale coastal projects
· Dashboard systems that can track energy usage on individual circuits
· Waterless urinals with built-in occasional purge flush for easier maintenance
· Successful installations of composting toilets in two public service buildings (see more about the Brock Environmental Center and Bullitt Center)
The ILFI offers certifications for Zero Net Energy and Living Building projects. If you are interested in learning more, visit their website. Then contact us – we would welcome an opportunity to work with you!
