(This is the tenth in our series of reflections on real construction decisions for one of our local projects: The Bishop Passive House)
Like most industries, trends come and go. What doesn’t go out of fashion is a smart strategy that makes a home comfortable, is easy on the planet, and equally so on the wallet.
Contractor Mike Horgan, has been around long enough (some of it on the East Coast) to have tried most insulation products. What he decided to use on Bishop House is a dense wood fiber exterior insulating board. It goes on with tongue-and-groove joints and long staples, is durable, and dries quickly even after a downpour.
Mike explains the ins and outs of installation and economics in the Bishop Passive House Exterior Insulation video.
