ARRIVE Hotel - Palm Springs, California
GREEN CONSULTING, ENERGY MODELING, CAL GREEN
Program: 32-room Luxury Hotel with Shops and Restaurant
ARRIVE reflects the Palm Springs style: distinctive architecture, a sun-worshiping lifestyle, and the natural desert beauty. The hotel is comprised of nine buildings, which are designed to echo the adjacent mountain ridges. Visitors move through a series of outdoor spaces, from dining terraces and poolside decks to play areas and private patios. Durable materials in a desert palette - rusted steel, wood, and concrete - contrast with vibrant color and rich patterns.
The project was designed using LEED certification as framework for sustainable design. Green building strategies included high levels of insulation, energy efficient equipment, sections of vegetated roofing, use of local/regional building materials, balanced daylight, water conservation, connectivity to pedestrian and transit options, and green cleaning. In addition, an energy management keycard system turns off lighting and sets back air conditioning when a room is not occupied, greatly reducing the energy load.
